Writing Mentorships

Narrative Ink’s writing mentorship program offers emerging writers an opportunity to work one on one with a Narrative Ink editor for a period of six months. This program is customizable, giving the mentee a rare opportunity to cover topics of interest: craft, revision, publishing, query letters, and the writing life. A maximum of 30,000 words can be submitted for critique and revision during each six-month session. Authors of picture books are given page limits instead of word count limits. Please email us for more information. The mentee is offered unlimited email queries.

A typical six-month session involves submitting monthly packets of 5,000 words to be critiqued by the mentor. Each submission will be line edited. The mentee can expect a detailed letter from the editor with each returned packet. Within this letter, the mentee can find helpful suggestions, including “big picture” comments about character development, setting, themes, plot, narrative arc, point of view, etc. Each month, the mentor will also write short craft lessons about different aspects of writing; these lessons may include writing exercises tailored to the mentee’s needs. At the end of the program, the mentor will email the mentee with some “next steps” that should be considered.

Emerging writers interested in this $400.00 program should email us directly.
